Last year I wrote a post, ‘Why I think mommy meet-ups are overrated.’ It’s funny how things change. At the time I was still a “newish” mom. Trying to find my confidence through learning to trust my intuition, which was difficult for me.

When Noble was a baby and I was a new mom I felt a tremendous amount of pressure. Looking back this was pressure that I put on myself. Always second guessing and judging myself.

Top Five Natural Health Trends 2017

Happy New Year! I love this time of year, a fresh start, new opportunities and possibilities. Although I’m not not a big believer of resolutions I do believe this is the ideal time for reflection and intention setting. A time to look back at last year, what went well, what did not and changes you would like to make in the year ahead.

Often these changes involve our health. More exercise, less sitting. More vegetables, less sugar. More sleep, less stress. To help set those healthy intentions we have identified the top five natural health trends for 2017.

4 ways to avoid getting sick this season

Let’s face it cold and flu season is coming. So far we have all been healthy in our home but it’s only a matter of time before we get hit. I know that as Noble gets older and spends more time playing with other kids he is learning to share toys but that also means sharing bugs.

With a two year old it’s impossible to stay germ free, especially because Noble likes to suck his thumb, and who knows what he has touched before putting it in his mouth. Thankfully we have been able to avoid getting sick because I put a strong focus on prevention.

Being the Director of Communications and in-house holistic nutritionist at the Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA) means that I have the opportunity to work on a lot of different projects. The last month (or so…) the majority of my time has been focused on our Save Our Supplements Campaign.

In case you have not already heard Health Canada is proposing some very scary changes to the regulations.  As a mom who uses supplements everyday I feel confident in the way these products are licensed by Health Canada and the fact that I know when I go to my local health food store the products I’m buying are safe, effective and of high-quality. Which is why I want to share this very important information from CHFA.
