Have a conversation with any of your mom friends about how they are doing or what they have been doing and within five minutes of that conversation I bet the words “busy,” “no time,” and “tired” come up.
We are all so busy being busy.
I know I’m guilty of it.
Running from one thing to the next.
Unfortunately, contrary to popular belief, there are a few things busy does not mean.
Busy does not mean productive.
Busy does not mean important.
Busy does not mean not enough time.
Busy does not mean fulfilled.
Busy does not mean living on purpose.
Busy means not prioritizing.
When we are so busy being busy, we don’t focus on what actually needs our attention and tell ourselves we will worry about it later.
Later comes sooner than we think.
What’s going on with you right now that you are too busy to fix?
Are you ten pounds overweight?
Can you remember the last time you worked-out?
Is packaged food the number one food group in your diet?
Do you spend all day sitting?
When was the last time you got at least eight hours of sleep consecutively for a week?
We all want to be healthier. We all want to be happier, but we are too busy being busy.
We all know what we are supposed to eat.
We all know what we are supposed to do.
Unfortunately not enough of us do it enough of the time.
If you want to be healthier don’t spend an hour on Google reading about how to be healthier, go for a walk.
If you want to lose some weight don’t find a complicated diet plan, work on your bad habits, the sugar addiction, the late night eating, the family sized portions.
If you are stressed, turn off the computer, TV, iPhone and iPad and meditate for 10 minutes.
If you don’t have enough time to exercise schedule it into your calendar.
If you are sleeping less than seven hours a night figure out what time you have to get up in the morning, count back seven hours, that’s your bed time. No excuses. As moms we obsess over our babies sleep schedules, but when was the last time you thought about yours?
Too busy being busy is not an excuse.
It’s what we tell ourselves to cover up the fact we don’t want to do something.
How did you get so busy?
No one handed you a schedule and said this is your life.
You signed your kids up for soccer, dance and summer hockey.
You were the one that has said yes a million times instead of no.
You were the one that decided to sleep-in instead of going to the gym because you were up too late watching mind numbing TV.
Your life is what you make it.
You write the script to your own play.
You have so much more control than you realize.
Don’t miss your life and sacrifice your health and happiness because you are too busy being busy.
What are you busy doing that you could stop now to make more room in your schedule? What could you say no to? What’s one bad habit that you have that you could replace with a good one to give yourself a bit more time?
