Hello. Thanks for stopping by.
I’m guessing you are here because like me you have a strong interest in health and believe that health and happiness are closely tied, so close in fact it is usually difficult to have one without the other.
I’m also guessing that like me you want the best for yourself and your family which means being a true wellness warrior and making choices that are going to improve the overall quality of your life and the lives of those you love the most.
Or maybe you are here because you have just started your journey and want to learn more about the small changes you can make every day which will quickly lead to large, life changing habits and results.
Either way, I’m happy you are here and honoured that you are going to spend a few minutes learning more about me.
Perhaps like you, I’ve had my share of health problems, suffering from digestive issues in high-school, to the stubborn freshman-fifteen that lasted much longer than first year, to grocery store confusion and supplementation surplus. Through education, passion and perseverance I have turned my health around and devoted my life to doing the same for others.
After completing my degree from the University of Guelph my interest in health really blossomed as I spent a year backpacking through Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Seeing how other parts of the world ate, lived and prioritized their health made me really question our western world ways.
Coming back from my travels I completed my postgrad and slowly began working my way into the health and wellness industry. I became a Certified Holistic Nutritionist and began to educate others on the benefits of natural health and organic products through my role at the Canadian Health Food Association.
Finally I was exactly where I wanted to be and after years of struggling it all seemed to be coming together.
Then everything changed.
On January 21, 2014, I learned I was going to be a mom, the last title I ever thought I would have.
When I found out I was pregnant it literally was the scariest moment of my life. I never planned on being a mom. I was not mom material. It took me a long time to accept the fact that it was happening. In fact, I’m not sure I actually did until I was in in the delivery room.
Noble came into this world with such grace and love that when I held him in my arms for the first time I could not help but think, “I can do this.”
Fast forward two years later and literally every day has been a new learning experience. He gets to a new stage and I think I have it figured out and then the next day everything changes again. That’s the beauty of motherhood, just like life, it’s always changing.
As a result, I have found motherhood to be the perfect training on how to live a better life. Before Noble, I was only accountable to me. Being accountable to another human being 24/7 changes everything. You love that little person you created so much that you want to make sure you do everything right. That you give them the best you possibly can.
Unfortunately, despite all the “how to” books, babies don’t come with manuals.
Every baby is different and every family is different. What works for your neighbour is not necessarily going to work for you. And no matter how hard they try to convince you, no one has all the answers, not your mom, not your best friend and definitely not me.
What I do have is the knowledge of what has worked for me. As a full time working mom, with a career that takes a lot of my time, I truly understand how hard it is to be a fulltime healthy, happy and present mom. I also know it’s possible.
This blog is my place to share my experiences in motherhood as a fulltime, working mom and holistic nutritionist. It is about how I try my best to juggle it all. Some days work well and all the balls are in the air and some days no matter how hard I try, I can’t keep the balls off the floor.
I post every Thursday and what you will find are my tips for living a healthier and happier life. Everything I share in my posts are practices that I actually use.
I definitely don’t have all the answers, but I do know what works for me and my family. It’s my hope that some of what I share can also be applied or adapted and will work for you and your family.
Welcome to my blog and to the wild ride of motherhood. Remember there is no manual needed. You already have all the answers, but I’m honoured you want to learn more about what has worked for me.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Health and happiness,
